We are absolutely delighted to share some long-awaited and wonderful news: the Brig Inn is now owned by the community.

The Brig Inn Community Pub & Hub Ltd, our community benefit society, has officially completed the purchase of the Brig Inn. That means the people of Brydekirk once again have their pub back – secured for the community, by the community, for generations to come.
This achievement has been years in the making and simply would not have been possible without the hard work, determination, and belief of many people along the way. We would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to all past and present committee members who have given their time, energy, and perseverance to reach this milestone. Your commitment never wavered, even when the road felt long.
We are deeply grateful for the vital funding support that made the purchase possible, in particular from the Scottish Land Fund, the Minsca Fund, and South of Scotland Enterprise. Their belief in community ownership – and in this project – has been instrumental.
We also want to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated so generously. From locals who have cherished memories of the Brig Inn, to supporters from far and wide who believe in the power of community spaces – every contribution mattered, and every one is appreciated more than words can say.
Along the way, we have been fortunate to receive invaluable support, guidance, and patience from those who shared their expertise with us. Our sincere thanks go to Democratic Finance Scotland, the Plunkett Foundation, South of Scotland Community Housing, Just Enterprise, Tor Justad, Jamie Dent of Dumfriesshire East Community Benefit Group and others who helped us and continue to help navigate the journey to community ownership.
This moment is not the end of the story – it’s the beginning.
Over the coming months, we’ll be starting work to renovate and reimagine the Brig Inn as a welcoming community pub and hub, shaped by and for the people of Brydekirk. There will be plenty of opportunities to get involved, and we’ll be sharing updates as plans develop.
Later this year, we also hope to launch a community share offer, giving even more people the chance to play a part in the Brig Inn’s future and truly say: this is our pub.
